I’m a huge Nikon fan, I love the lens options, I love the cameras and I love the bright crisp photos they produce. Sadly, all my favorite Nikon gear is a little too bulky for the trail. In the past year I have been using two Micro 4/3rds cameras, the OM-1 and the OLYMPUS E-M10 Mark IV and have LOVED shooting with both of them. For years I dragged around bulky camera gear, and eventually I just stopped taking as many photos—it felt like too much work. But ever since switching to these Olympus cameras, I catch myself reaching for them all the time. They’re light, easy, and have brought the joy back into photography for me. And just look at those nostalgic colors they produce.

Olympus E-10 Mark IV

It is very light-weight and has a fun retro look (also available in black)

I love the dials on the top, super easy to use

Without a lens, the body including memory card and batteries weighs 13.5 lbs.

Here are a couple photos

Its a super great little camera – not equal to a full frame Nikon, but very solid and capable.

You can find the E-M10 here https://amzn.to/41qi4ch

and my favorite Lumix lens to pair with it https://amzn.to/47Kt9sq

Now for the OM-1

Not as cute as the E-M10 but definitely an upgrade, a little heavier(has a better hand grip) , clear crisp pictures, includes a very cool starry sky option (astro photography), has an option for hand-held High-Res (50MP) and High-Res (80MP) with a tripod.

Here are some examples from the OM 1 (also my photos above of the E-M10 were taken with my OM1….)

Overall both of these options are great! Both are very affordable and have a whole range of lens options

I frequently use it with this lens https://amzn.to/4mJF8eo

or the pro version (weather sealed) https://amzn.to/45xJxey

Both the EM-10 and OM-1 are fantastic picks if you’re after a lightweight, high-quality camera. The OM-1 is the way to go if you want extra megapixels, High-Res shooting modes, and a weather-sealed body. But if you prefer something compact, easy to carry, and simple to use while still delivering great photos, the EM-10 is a perfect fit. Best of all, both come at a great price point for the features they offer.
